U.S. Central Command announced on May 21 the deployment of two American destroyers equipped with laser weapons in the Middle East. The vessels are the USS Spruance, which is part of the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group, and the USS John Finn, currently engaged in combat operations in the Indian Ocean.
