Japanese automakers Toyota and Suzuki have announced the temporary suspension of operations at 18 factories nationwide due to the approach of typhoon Changmi.
Toyota Motor Corporation reported on June 2 that it would halt production at 13 factories, excluding Toyota Motor Kyushu’s Miyat plant, effective the morning of June 3 because of typhoon Jangmi’s effects. The automaker stated that a decision regarding resumption of operations would be made by afternoon on June 3 after monitoring the storm.
Suzuki will also suspend operations at all five factories in Shizuoka Prefecture starting on June 3. These facilities produce cars, motorcycles, and cast components.
Additionally, Subaru has announced a partial shutdown of production lines at its plant in Gunma Prefecture, though the impact on overall output is expected to be minimal.
