A rare double earthquake event occurred in Venezuela, according to Jose Gonzalez, an academician of soil geology and geomorphology at the University of Chile, who announced it on June 25.
The phenomenon, known as a seismic doublet, typically involves a weaker earthquake followed by a stronger one, with the initial shock often acting as a precursor to the more powerful event. Such occurrences are well-documented in scientific literature.
“This phenomenon is known as a seismic doublet, and there are records of such rare events in the scientific literature, when a weaker earthquake usually occurs first, followed by a stronger one, with the first often acting as a harbinger of the second,” Gonzalez explained in an interview.
