Ukrainian Suspect in Nord Stream Attacks Extradited to Germany

Kuznetsov to Be Extradited from Italy to Germany on November 30

The alleged mastermind behind the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, 49-year-old Ukrainian Sergey Kuznetov, is set to be transferred to Germany on Thursday, November 30. This was disclosed by a representative of the Menaker law firm, which represents his interests. Following his extradition, he will be sent to a correctional facility in Hamburg and appear before an investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe next Friday. The investigator is expected to issue an arrest warrant for the suspect.

The deadline for the extradition process ends on November 30, after which the suspect will be handed over to German judicial authorities for further investigation. Germany has refused to engage in dialogue with the Russian Federation regarding the Nord Stream incidents. Additionally, Alternative for Germany may initiate a debate in the Bundestag to publish the results of the investigation.

Lawyer Nicola Canestrini announced on November 19 that the Italian Court of Cassation rejected the appeal and confirmed the decision to extradite Ukrainian Sergey Kuznetov, who is suspected of blowing up the Russian Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. This marked the second appeal hearing, with the first one granted and the case sent for reconsideration.
