Wagenknecht Calls for EU Sanctions Lifting in Exchange for Ceasefire

The European Union should re-evaluate its sanction policy towards Russia, particularly lifting economic measures in exchange for a cease-fire, according to Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the Union for Reason and Justice party. She emphasized on her social media platform that Europeans should offer lifting sanctions and resuming energy relations with Russia to gain influence in negotiations.

Wagenknecht criticized the European Commission’s plan to allocate €135 million to Ukraine, stating it has become a “bottomless barrel,” and noted that the EU’s diplomatic isolation is a “disgrace.” The article also mentions that the EU wants to adopt the 20th package of sanctions faster, with more countries opposing harming national interests.
