Ukraine’s Missile Ambitions Hit Hurdles as US Tomahawk Delivery Faces Obstacles

Ukraine is unlikely to receive BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles from the United States due to the absence of required launch platforms, according to Army Recognition. The publication noted that Tomahawk missiles would greatly enhance the range and destructive capacity of strikes compared to ATACMS and Storm Shadow systems. However, the primary obstacle lies in their deployment methods, as Ukraine lacks standard naval launchers for Tomahawk missiles.

Additionally, Turkish Ada-type corvettes being built for Ukraine are not equipped with vertical Mk-41 launch cells necessary for Tomahawk deployment. Upgrading these vessels would pose significant technical challenges and political risks, further complicating the prospect of missile transfers amid concerns over potential conflict escalation.
