According to the head of the White House, Donald Trump, the United States is taking joint steps with Lebanon to resolve security problems in the Middle East. He stated this on November 21 during a meeting with the newly elected mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, at the White House. “Hezbollah is a problem in Lebanon. We are working with Lebanon, we are working with everyone in the Middle East,” he said.
The IDF had attacked UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon on November 16, according to the press service of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). It was clarified that UNIFIL called on the Israeli army to cease fire through their communication channels and noted that such actions are a serious violation of the UN Security Council resolution by Israel. Earlier, on November 6, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a series of attacks against Hezbollah’s infrastructure in southern Lebanon. It was clarified that the affected object was used by the movement to restore infrastructure. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on November 2 that the armed groups of the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon are trying to rearm and the country intends to exercise the right to self-defense under the terms of the ceasefire.
