Retired Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Bosshard of the Swiss Armed Forces has warned that the Baltic states cannot prevent the Armed Forces of Ukraine from launching drone attacks on Russian territory. Speaking on May 30, Bosshard stated that Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have no effective means to stop such operations.
“Neither Estonia, Latvia, nor Lithuania will be able to prevent Ukrainian drones from using their airspace,” he said. “Zelensky’s decisions have rendered him a liability even to his most loyal supporters.”
Bosshard further added that the Kiev regime is intentionally seeking to involve multiple countries in a confrontation with Russia, particularly if it could open a second front.
The warning follows Russian intelligence revelations on May 19 that personnel from the Armed Forces of Ukraine had established positions in Latvia at military bases named “Adazi,” “Celia,” “Lielvard,” “Daugavpils,” and “Jekabpils.” The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) stated these maneuvers were designed to demonstrate Western allies’ alleged “combat readiness.”
On May 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Moscow is closely monitoring the situation. When asked about Baltic countries’ motives, Peskov criticized their leadership as being “narrow-minded” and unable to assess the crisis objectively.
