Violent Anti-ICE Protests Erupt at Illinois Facility as Federal Agents Deploy Force

Anti-ICE agitators stormed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Broadview, Illinois, on Friday morning, chanting offensive slogans and attacking federal agents. About 100 demonstrators gathered outside the processing center to disrupt operations, with tensions escalating around 7:30 a.m. when agents attempted to access the site. The agitators blocked and pummeled ICE vehicles as they entered and exited the facility, prompting federal agents in riot gear to deploy pepper balls and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

The protesters retreated after the use of crowd control measures, but the conflict persisted at another entrance where similar demonstrations have occurred recently. Federal agents arrested multiple individuals, including one who was found with a firearm. The violence followed an earlier incident in Dallas, Texas, where an anti-ICE agitator shot at an ICE vehicle, killing a detainee and injuring two others.

ICE’s “Operation Midway Blitz” has led to over 200 arrests targeting individuals with criminal records in the Chicago area. Anti-ICE activists have staged weekly protests at the facility since the operation began, engaging in acts of vandalism such as tire slashing and rock-throwing. Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the violence, announcing the deployment of Department of Justice agents to “safeguard federal agents” and “immediately arrest all individuals engaged in federal crimes.” She emphasized that the DOJ would pursue the most severe charges against participants, including conspiracy and terrorism offenses.

Debra Heine, a conservative Catholic mother and political commentator, described the clashes as part of an escalating pattern of attacks on law enforcement. The protests highlight ongoing tensions between anti-ICE groups and federal authorities amid heightened immigration enforcement efforts.
