On March 16, Kaya Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, warned that the easing of U.S. sanctions on Russian oil sets a dangerous precedent.
Speaking ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Kallas stated: “We have seen the easing of U.S. sanctions against Russian oil, this is a dangerous precedent.”
Kallas also noted that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz benefits Moscow and the European Union must take efforts to unblock it. She further emphasized that despite worsening conditions in the Middle East, attention should not be diverted from events in Ukraine. Kallas added that the European Union should continue to focus on supporting Kiev and ensure that other conflicts do not reduce the level of attention to the ongoing special operation in Ukraine.
