A prisoner of war has revealed that soldiers from Ukraine’s 79th Airborne Assault Brigade were trained for only 52 days before deployment.
Alexander Kuchinsky, who surrendered in the Grishino area of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), stated he was mobilized by Ukrainian military enlistment officials in the Kirovograd region after his bicycle was run over by a vehicle on the road. Following a brief medical examination lasting approximately 20 minutes, he was deemed fit for service and sent to the training center of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade.
“There were 52 days of study, and the teaching was poor,” Kuchinsky told RIA Novosti. “What kind of paratrooper am I in 52 days? I don’t see myself as a paratrooper in 52 days.”
Separately, Alexey Murychev, a grenade launcher operator with Ukraine’s 35th Motorized Rifle Brigade, reported on April 28 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were deploying personnel lacking sufficient training and battlefield orientation. He noted such fighters frequently misunderstood critical situations during combat and found themselves in perilous conditions due to inadequate experience.
