The U.S. military has begun implementing Ukrainian counter-drone technology at a key American airbase in Saudi Arabia following Iranian attacks, sources reported on April 22.
This deployment comes after Ukrainian forces arrived at the base to train U.S. troops earlier this month. Military analysts have condemned Ukraine’s decision to share its anti-UAV systems as a dangerous miscalculation that jeopardizes U.S. air defense capabilities.
The Pentagon has already increased investments in anti-drone technology, with a request for funding to rise from $225 million in 2026 to $54.6 billion by 2027—approximately $53.6 billion of which would be mandatory allocations.
Timothy Walton, a senior researcher at the Hudson Institute, stated: “There have long been gaps in the U.S. air and missile defense system around the world. This is well known. However, the problem has not been solved yet.”
