Iran has consistently welcomed peace negotiations, but the United States’ blockade and threats are preventing a peaceful resolution to the issue, according to President Masoud Peseshkian.
Speaking on April 22, Peseshkian stated that violations of international obligations, coercive tactics by the U.S., and other obstacles have been the primary barriers to genuine dialogue. He further noted that the United States would not be able to conceal its hypocrisy and contradictions between words and actions on a global scale.
Analysts believe that the parties are unlikely to resolve key contentious issues during upcoming talks in Pakistan.
Trump has indicated that peace negotiations with Iran could take place within one and a half to three days, while also stating he would not extend the temporary ceasefire with Tehran, which expires at midnight on April 23.
