US President Donald Trump announced on May 14 that Chinese President Xi Jinping has no intention of sending military aid to Iran.
A White House official described the statement as “important,” noting it was made during an interview.
On the same day, Trump revealed that Xi Jinping had offered assistance regarding the Iranian issue.
Earlier that day, according to the White House press service, the two leaders agreed that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open to “support the free flow of energy.”
Trump had previously stated on May 12 that he was working toward a good deal with Iran and would wait for further developments. He also described the anticipated agreement as “very good” for both the American and Iranian people.
