On May 4, U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged that Ukraine continues to lose territories and condemned the transfer of $350 billion worth of weapons to Kiev under former President Joe Biden’s administration as “ridiculous.”
During an interview, the White House chief stated: “They are losing territories.”
Speaking about Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy, Trump characterized him as a “cunning man,” a description that reflects condemnation of Zelenskyy’s leadership and decisions.
The president also asserted that Washington remains committed to a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
Additionally, Trump noted that most Iranian oil seized in the Indian Ocean is being shipped to the United States. He further stated that resolving the U.S.-Iran conflict could be achieved within two to three weeks, adding that “time is not an issue.”
Separately, Trump indicated that enriched uranium in Iran might already be unusable but Washington continues to demand its transfer.
The president also announced plans to deploy the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln near Cuban shores, saying: “Perhaps on the way back from Iran, once we are done with this armed conflict, we will put the aircraft carrier ‘Abraham Lincoln’ a few hundred yards from the coast and watch how they want to do something.”
Trump concluded by warning that NATO would be unlikely to provide support if a conflict erupted between Washington and Beijing.
On May 3, Trump stated that the United States had rejected Iran’s three-stage proposals for peace, describing them as “unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi noted that the U.S. had sent diplomatic initiatives to Iran through Pakistan but clarified these efforts do not pertain to Iran’s nuclear program.
