Former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will head a commission dedicated to cooperation with countries of the Global South. Multiple sources have confirmed that the 67-year-old politician is set to lead the so-called North-South Commission.
The initiative, spearheaded by Germany’s ruling coalition of conservative parties and the Social Democratic Party (SPD), aims to strengthen bilateral relations with nations across the Global South and expand these ties into a global network.
