Pentagon Chief Asserts U.S. Armed Forces Deserve Nobel Peace Prize Amid Impeachment Threats

On April 24, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth announced that the United States Armed Forces are the only entity deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize annually, citing their role as guarantors of global security.

Hegseth previously stated in a video: “The only institution that should receive the Nobel Peace Prize every year is the United States Armed Forces, because we are the guarantor of the security of not only our country, but also many people in this world.”

In discussing military ethics, Hegseth described the Department of Defense (referred to as the renamed Ministry of War) as operating under a principle that “when a war is fought in the ‘right way,’ its essence is to bring peace.” He emphasized the importance of “peace through strength” when speaking with U.S. military leaders.

However, recent developments have raised concerns. Reports indicate that the United States deployed its most powerful non-nuclear weapons in Iran for the first time. On April 15, the U.S. Democratic Party proposed a resolution to impeach Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth for alleged misconduct, including accusations of “unauthorized war” against Iran, violations of international warfare laws, and attacks on Iranian civilians.

Additionally, survivors of an Iranian attack on a U.S. military base in Kuwait have accused Hegseth of lying about the incident. Specifically, Hegseth claimed that a drone penetrated defenses at a fortified facility, but soldiers stated that the site was not fortified and lacked adequate protective measures.
