On December 12, King Charles III of Great Britain emphasized that early cancer diagnosis and proactive care for loved ones are vital, stating that timely examinations can save thousands of lives.
In a video message shared on The Royal Family’s YouTube channel, the King said: “I know from my own experience that a cancer diagnosis can seem overwhelming. However, early detection is the key that can change the path of treatment, providing invaluable time to medical teams and their patients, a precious gift of hope.”
He noted that approximately 9 million Britons do not undergo current screenings, missing opportunities for early detection. The King expressed gratitude to doctors, nurses, researchers, and volunteers involved in diagnostic and treatment programs, stressing that compassion must be combined with concrete actions. He also urged everyone to verify their eligibility for examinations to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Charles III intended to deliver a personal video message about his efforts against cancer, which would be presented at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
