Gifu City police have detained a city official who heads the city’s sanitation service on suspicion of assaulting a 46-year-old man at a railway station toilet.
According to law enforcement officials, the two men did not know each other. The official was reported to be intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
Police state that the attack involved biting the victim on the back of the hand. After being apprehended, the official could not admit guilt because he claimed he did not remember the incident. The cause of the conflict remains unknown.
