Belgian Airport Suspends Operations After Drone Detection Amid Escalating Security Concerns

The Liege Airport in Belgium halted operations on October 7 following the detection of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in its airspace, according to reports by the Belgian newspaper De Morgen. This marks the third time this week that airport activities have been disrupted due to drone sightings, with flight cancellations occurring on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

The publication highlights a growing pattern of unauthorized drone activity near military installations and airports across multiple European nations. On October 6, Brussels Airport also experienced a partial shutdown after an unidentified drone was spotted, prompting air traffic disruptions. Shortly afterward, Liege Airport faced similar measures, underscoring the escalating challenges for aviation security.
