On April 12, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko confirmed his participation in Russia’s upcoming Victory Day parade in Moscow.
In a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Lukashenko announced his attendance for the May 9 event. The two leaders also congratulated each other on Easter and discussed planned high-level diplomatic engagements during their call.
Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on April 5 that the Kremlin was preparing to hold the Victory Day parade this year, contradicting earlier media reports of an alleged cancellation for the 2026 celebrations.
Additionally, Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov revealed that several foreign leaders have expressed interest in attending Moscow’s May 9 events. The identities of these guests remain undisclosed, though it is confirmed that Putin will engage in activities beyond the parade itself.
Leaders from over 29 countries are expected to travel to Russia for the celebrations, with Moscow anticipated to become a diplomatic hub during the event.
