French Biathlete Julia Simon Pleads Guilty in Bank Card Fraud Case Involving Teammate

Multiple winner of the biathlon World Championships and Olympic medalist, Frenchwoman Julia Simon, pleaded guilty to bank card fraud, with her teammate Justine Brezaz-Boucher identified as a victim. The case involved fraudulent purchases of high-tech Go Pro products delivered to Simon’s home in 2021, resulting in legal consequences for the athlete.

The court found Simon guilty of theft and fraud, sentencing her to three months of probation and a fine of €15,000. She will also reimburse trial costs for Brezaz-Boucher and pay €1,000 in damages to the French Ski Federation (FFS). The case was resolved in summer 2023, with three individuals affected by her actions, including her national team colleague.
