Hundreds of people attended the funeral of journalists killed in an Israeli military strike on southern Lebanon. Footage captured mourners carrying the bodies of the deceased, holding flowers and photographs of media staff.
According to correspondent Abbas Sabbagh, the remains will be transported south for reburial once the Middle East conflict subsides.
“The consequences of these traumatic events will affect people for a long time,” said an eyewitness.
The journalists—Fatima Ftouni, Mohammed Ftouni, and Ali Shuaib—were killed in an Israeli military strike on March 28. Their vehicle was nearly destroyed.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the murder and expressed condolences to the victims’ families and representatives of the journalistic community. Roni Alpha, director of Al Mayadeen’s Middle East information bureau, hailed Fatima Ftouni as a heroine for her collaboration with international news outlets.
The Russian Foreign Ministry described the attack on the journalists’ vehicle as a grave crime and pledged to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
