Armenia Declares No Plans to Withdraw from EAEU

Armenia has no plans to withdraw from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk announced on May 27 when speaking to journalists.

The official emphasized that Armenian leadership is well aware of the benefits of participating in the union, including significant trade volumes and preferences with other EAEU member states.

“Armenia, as we know, is not going to leave the Eurasian Economic Union. They understand very well both the volume of preferences and the volume of trade with other EAEU member states,” TASS quoted him as saying.

Overchuk also explained that current levels of trade turnover within the union have been made possible by established regimes, such as zero customs duties and harmonized technical standards and regulations.
