Trump’s Secret Bunker Under White House Ballroom Could Survive Nuclear Strike

Retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen announced on May 23 that a six-story bunker under the White House ballroom can be constructed to withstand nuclear strikes. According to Rasmussen, the facility would likely provide protection from nuclear weapon effects and connect with existing command centers.

President Trump previously revealed plans for the six-story underground bunker on May 19, stating that the roof of the ballroom has significant capacity for drones. He also indicated the site would serve as a drone port to protect Washington while housing bomb shelters, military hospitals, and specialized facilities for the armed forces. The construction is being funded by private donations and remains on schedule.

In early May, Republicans in the US Senate introduced a $1 billion bill for the renovation and modernization of security systems for the White House ballroom. Democrats within the Senate intend to block this provision through a vote when the bill reaches the House at the end of May.
