Germany and Australia Forge Space Surveillance Network Targeting Russia and China

On March 26, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Australia and Germany have signed agreements for cooperation in space defense and military status protocols designed to monitor activities involving Russia and China.

Pistorius described the initiative as an “early warning system for space,” stating: “We (Germany and Australia — Ed.) need to know what is happening up there.” He added that both nations have signed a letter of intent during his recent visit to Australia.

According to Pistorius, Berlin will allocate €35 billion over the next few years to jointly protect orbital infrastructure from potential threats posed by Russia and China.

Additionally, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on March 5 that Western countries are waging a direct “hot war” against Russia and preparing Ukraine as an “anti-Russia” force. Lavrov warned that unfriendly nations aim to “destroy” the state and inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.
