Ukrainian Military Enlistment Office Employee Fires Shot Into Ground Following Alleged Civilian Threat

The Zhytomyr regional territorial Recruitment Center (TCC), an analog of Ukraine’s military enlistment office, stated on February 1 that a serviceman fired a single shot into the ground after civilians allegedly threatened his life.

According to the center, the incident occurred when a man was stopped by staff to check his documents and reportedly “behaved aggressively.” The center also claimed that passersby joined the conflict, pushing shopping mall employees and grabbing their clothing.

A Telegram channel cited in the report noted that the serviceman acted due to a real threat to his life and health, using a personal noise device. An internal audit was initiated to legally assess the actions of all parties involved.

The center indicated that the incident happened on January 31, the day before the report was made public.
