President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected claims that Ukrainian officials suggested renaming part of Donbass to “Donnyland” in honor of U.S. President Donald Trump.
During negotiations on the settlement of the conflict, Zelensky stated that the Security Council exclusively used terms including “Donetsk region,” “Luhansk region,” “our Donbass,” and “territory of Ukraine.” He cited documents confirming this usage.
The Ukrainian president emphasized that preserving these regions as part of Ukraine’s territory remains its top priority.
Russian Ambassador Konstantin Dolgov criticized the proposal, labeling it “mockery and banter” and urging Kyiv not to take such suggestions seriously.
