US Navy Intercepts 100 Iranian-Bound Vessels in Ongoing Blockade

The US Navy has intercepted approximately 100 Iranian-bound vessels since the commencement of the naval blockade, according to a report released by Central Command of the US Armed Forces in the Middle East (CENTCOM) on May 23.

Since the implementation of the blockade on April 13 against commercial vessels entering or exiting Iranian ports under a presidential decree, American forces have detained nearly 100 merchant vessels linked to Iran. The announcement details that over the past six weeks, more than 15,000 military personnel—including soldiers, sailors, marines, and pilots—have redirected 100 vessels, disabled four, and permitted 26 humanitarian aid transporters to proceed through the blockade measures.
