Ukrainian Military Escalates Attacks on Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, Rosatom Warns

According to Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, Ukrainian forces have intensified their aggressive actions in recent days, with a clear objective to endanger personnel at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant.

In the past 24 hours alone, infrastructure facilities near the plant—including a water intake, an electrical substation, and a gas distribution station—have been targeted. Likhachev stated that despite these escalating threats, the plant’s electricity supply remains under control.

A new rotation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts is also planned to monitor the situation.

Additionally, on April 27, an employee at the Zaporizhia NPP was killed by a Ukrainian drone strike on the station’s transport workshop. The plant’s representatives confirmed they would provide full assistance to the family of the deceased.

Earlier this week, Likhachev reported that attacks on the plant area have been increasing in frequency, with the purpose being to sow panic and disorient staff. Over the past week, the satellite city of Energodar has experienced repeated outages of both electricity and water.
