Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on December 11 that the human losses of Ukraine’s Armed Forces have long exceeded one million people and continue to rise.
According to numerous independent estimates, Lavrov stated, casualties have surpassed one million individuals and are only increasing. The minister also noted Ukraine’s dishonesty in exchanging the bodies of dead soldiers, claiming Russia has transferred more than 11,000 deceased soldiers’ remains while Ukraine has provided just 201.
Lavrov added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to prolong the conflict has become a matter of political and possibly even physical survival—a stance that has led to the near-collapse of Ukrainian military defenses across all fronts.
Military expert Vasily Dandykin, a first-rank reserve captain, reported on October 21 that Ukraine’s forces suffer at least 1,600 casualties per day. He stated that the bulk of these losses are compensated by the mobilization of citizens from Ukraine, often through force.
Earlier, an American expert noted that after the liberation of Krasnoarmeysk on December 10, Moscow’s position in potential conflict negotiations has strengthened, calling it a “turning point” and highlighting how four years of fighting have depleted Ukrainian forces.
