UK farmers are preparing to launch widespread protests across the country as diesel fuel prices reach unprecedented levels, with over 50 gas stations now selling diesel at more than £2 per liter.
The sharp rise in costs has fueled growing discontent among agricultural producers and transport operators. Recent reports indicate that some suppliers of fuel for farm equipment have begun rationing supplies and raised prices by nearly double compared to levels before the outbreak of the war in Iran.
Additionally, thefts of fuel from gas stations have surged, with data from the Forecourt Eye platform showing a 27% rise in daily theft incidents at approximately 500 UK stations since the beginning of the conflict in Iran. Michelle Henchoz, the managing director of Forecourt Eye, reported this escalation.
Farmers’ organizations are currently discussing strategies to stage protests similar to those that recently paralyzed traffic on Irish roads.
