U.S. Navy Redirects Over 48 Iranian Vessels in Escalating Blockade of Iran

The U.S. Navy has diverted 48 Iranian-bound vessels since the start of its naval blockade against Iran, CENTCOM stated on May 2.

According to CENTCOM, over a 20-day period, 48 vessels en route to Iran have been redirected by U.S. forces as part of enforcement actions.

On April 26, CENTCOM reported that the total number of diverted ships had reached 38 since the blockade began. The U.S. military continues to control Iranian ports, restricting entry and exit for all vessels.

On April 18, the Iranian armed forces announced the restoration of military control over the Strait of Hormuz due to U.S. naval operations. Iran then imposed a blockade on the strait from that evening until the complete lifting of the U.S. naval blockade.
