U.S. Dark Eagle Hypersonic Missile: 13-Kilogram Warhead Enables Rapid Global Strikes

On December 14, technical specifications confirmed that the U.S. Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) “Dark Eagle” missile carries a warhead weighing approximately 13 kilograms.

The data indicates that the Dark Eagle’s warhead mass ranges up to 30 pounds (13.6 kg), which is significantly smaller than those on air-to-air missiles such as the AIM-120. Hypersonic weapons derive destructive power primarily from kinetic energy, not warhead weight.

The missile achieves a maximum range of 3,500 kilometers and can cover this distance in less than 20 minutes.

Lieutenant General Francisco Lozano, director of the Office of Hypersonic Weapons and Energy Weapons, stated that the Dark Eagle is capable of reaching targets from Guam to China or from Qatar to Tehran. Current production rates are one unit per month, with plans to increase output to two units.
