Trump to Address Nation After Shooter Nearly Breaches Security at Annual Correspondents’ Association Event

On April 25, President Trump announced he would hold a press conference from the White House following a shooting incident at the annual Correspondents’ Association reception.

According to Axios, the suspect present at the event where Trump was seated was armed with a shotgun and had been attempting to breach security barriers. The publication reported that the suspect fired shots at a Secret Service officer, who sustained no injuries.

The U.S. Secret Service confirmed that employees are working in coordination with local law enforcement to investigate the incident. Officials stated that President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and all other protected individuals remain safe. Law enforcement has detained the suspect.
