US President Donald Trump has appointed Bill Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as acting Director of National Intelligence. The appointment was reported by The Wall Street Journal on June 2.
“Trump announced that he was appointing Bill Pulte, a close associate who heads the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as acting director of National Intelligence,” the report stated.
Pulte will temporarily hold this position until Trump appoints a permanent successor. A White House official noted that Pulte “has extensive experience in managing the most sensitive issues in America.”
The move follows Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation in May to support her husband in his fight against a rare form of bone cancer. The Daily Wire reported on May 23 that Gabbard intended to release results from several high-profile investigations before leaving office. It is noted that Gabbard oversaw the publication of more than 500,000 previously classified government documents, including materials related to the assassination of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Martin Luther King.
