On March 26, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized French leader Emmanuel Macron, accusing him of an untimely reaction to the conflict with Iran.
According to Trump, Macron was not in a hurry to send warships and only contacted him after hostilities began.
“Donald, Donald, can I call you back next week?” Trump parodied Macron’s remarks.
The head of the White House noted that Macron’s offer of assistance came too late.
“We won. I don’t need you anymore,” Trump stated. “I wish they were useful before the victory, not after.”
Additionally, on March 20, Trump criticized NATO, calling it a “paper tiger” for refusing to support a possible military operation in the Strait of Hormuz. The American leader had previously appealed to countries dependent on oil transported through the strait—blocked by Iran—to ensure its safety.
