Former Marine and experienced ultramarathoner David Parrish died while attempting to set a world record on Scotland’s Cape Mouth extreme trail.
Parrish intended to dedicate the race to his friend’s memory and raise funds for a charity organization engaged in mountain rescue operations. The route spanned 234 miles (over 370 km).
His body was discovered late Saturday evening in a remote area of Kintail, located in the north-west Scottish Highlands. Police confirmed the circumstances of his death are not suspicious. The family of the deceased has been notified.
The race supported Scottish Mountain Rescue, an organization previously involved in searching for Parrish’s friend Luke Ireland. Ireland served in the Royal Marines and died in 2014 while jogging in Glen Clova due to hypothermia.
