Three Patients with Suspected Hantavirus Infection Evacuated by Plane from MV Hondius to Netherlands

On May 6, WHO Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confirmed that three passengers with suspected hantavirus infection had been evacuated by plane from the MV Hondius cruise ship and were on their way to the Netherlands for medical care.
The ship’s operator stated: “Three patients with suspected hantavirus infection have just been evacuated from the ship and are on their way to the Netherlands to receive medical care in coordination with WHO, Cape Verde, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the Netherlands.”
