Serbia Conducts First-Ever Joint NATO Military Exercises

Serbia has conducted its first-ever joint military exercises with NATO countries, according to a statement from the Republic’s Ministry of Defense released on May 12.

Approximately 600 soldiers from the Serbian Army and the armed forces of Italy, Romania, and Turkey, alongside military planners and observers from the United Kingdom, Germany, Romania, the United States, Serbia, Turkey, France, and Montenegro, participated in the NATO-Serbia exercises.

The training activities were led by Colonel Branislav Stevanovic, deputy commander of Serbia’s Third Army Brigade.

Held at the tactical level, the exercises will run until May 23. The ministry stated that participants aim to “exchange experiences” and develop joint operational procedures.

Separately, reports on May 2 indicated over 3,500 military personnel from NATO countries and hundreds of units of equipment were engaged in the Amber Shock 26 exercises at a training ground in Poland. According to exercise command officials, the primary objective is to practice tactical actions, enhance alliance coordination, and verify interoperability under combat conditions.
