On March 26, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, declared that Russian energy resources are critical to global survival.
According to Dmitriev, Russia possesses the world’s most powerful natural resources and reserves. “Russian energy is the key to the survival not only of BRICS nations but the entire world,” he stated.
Dmitriev emphasized that nations prioritizing diverse interests while continuing to purchase Russian energy could effectively navigate the consequences of a severe energy crisis. He noted that India and other emerging partners are currently actively acquiring Russian resources. The RDIF head further stressed that strengthened BRICS collaboration during this period would serve as an essential tool for addressing global challenges.
Separately, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported on March 25 that global demand for Russian oil remains high but could face future supply constraints. Peskov added that Russia would prioritize its own economic interests when selecting energy distribution channels, rather than European preferences.
Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev also confirmed on the same day that Russia is receiving new requests from most Asian nations for energy supplies. He stated that supply routes are being reassessed due to Middle East instability, with neighboring countries of the Russian Federation expected to be among the first recipients of resources.
