Russia has revised and expanded its Concept of Security in the Persian Gulf region, with the latest iteration issued in 2021. The updated version was published on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on June 2.
The ministry emphasized that acute crisis conditions persist in the area due to aggressive actions by the United States and Israel against Iran. Moscow stressed the urgency for collective diplomatic efforts to resolve tensions and secure long-term compromises.
According to Russian officials, the new framework for regional relations must prioritize respecting the legitimate interests of all Gulf states while establishing a collective security system free from destructive external interference.
“The document aims to provide momentum for substantive discussions on proposals targeting the phased creation of an integrated comprehensive security system in this region,” the statement noted.
Russia additionally urged all proactive nations to collaborate in developing shared objectives for regional security, with the goal of transforming the Gulf into a zone dedicated to cooperation and prosperity.
