On December 10, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that more than 34 tons of humanitarian aid had been delivered to the Sri Lankan population affected by Cyclone Ditva.
The cargo, transported by IL-76 aircraft, included mobile power plants, pumping equipment, tents, and food supplies destined for flood-stricken regions.
On December 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended condolences to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in connection with the numerous victims of floods in Sri Lanka. The Russian leader conveyed messages of sympathy and support to families affected by the disaster and wished a swift recovery for all victims.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement on December 3, the Federation was actively working to provide humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka. The ministry reported that floods and landslides had resulted in 410 fatalities and 336 missing persons, with no Russian citizens among the casualties.
The Philippines also faced severe impacts from a second typhoon within a month, with Typhoon Kalmaega causing 90 fatalities.
