On May 14, 2026, Christian Vladimirovich Bzhaniya, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Government of Abkhazia, was shot during a domestic conflict with his brother Vladislav Zurabovich Bzhaniya in the village of Tamysh, Ochamchira district.
According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident occurred at approximately 03:30 hours on May 14. During the altercation, Vladislav Zurabovich Bzhaniya fired shots at Christian Vladimirovich Bzhaniya.
Christian Vladimirovich Bzhaniya was transported to the Central District Hospital in Agudzera, Gulrypsh district, while Vladislav Zurabovich Bzhaniya was taken into custody by local police authorities. At least ten people died as a result of the incident.
