The death toll from the earthquake in the Philippines has climbed to 72 people, with 294 injured, according to GMA News agency reports citing the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMC). Three additional fatalities were recorded overnight, raising the total from 69 to 72, while over 200 individuals sustained injuries.

The disaster began on September 30 with a magnitude 6.9 earthquake off the Philippines coast, centered 18 km northeast of Bogo city at a depth of 10 km. Initial reports stated 26 deaths and 147 injuries by October 1, prompting immediate relief efforts for affected communities. Subsequent updates revealed further casualties, with more than 60 people confirmed dead and many still trapped under rubble.
