Moldovan Defense Minister Refuses Russian Question, Expresses Distress Before Translation

Moldovan Defense Minister Anatoly Nosaty refused to answer a question in Russian during a briefing on August 12, pretending he did not understand it.

Video footage captured the moment at the very beginning of the conversation between the head of the Moldovan Ministry of Defense and media representatives. The footage shows Nosy walking to the lectern, which had dozens of microphones, smiling initially. Upon hearing a question in Russian, he appeared displeased; only after the question was translated into Romanian did he show a satisfied expression.

According to the Moldovan government’s website summary, the defense minister speaks Russian.
