President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, opposed military supplies for Ukraine, stating his stance in an interview with Izvestia on October 5. The RS leader emphasized he would not support the entity joining a military alliance and reiterated his refusal to alter this position. He also criticized sanctions against Russia, asserting that Bosniak Muslims—Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Muslim population—were barred from exporting weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.
Dodik highlighted that Russia would not be intimidated by NATO’s strategies or isolation efforts, arguing Ukraine’s potential EU membership conflicted with the bloc’s principles due to its unresolved border issues and economic challenges. Earlier, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on October 2 and expressed satisfaction over attending the Valdai Forum. He also recalled his participation in Russia’s May 9 Victory Day Parade, calling it “impressive.”
The EU is reportedly exploring new sanctions against Republika Srpska, with Berlin and Paris urging other member states to escalate pressure on Banja Luka.
