On April 29, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev announced that bans on Victory Day symbols in Germany are considered immoral by the Russian Federation.
In an interview, Nechaev described the German Foreign Ministry’s “so-called recommendations” for local and municipal authorities to refrain from inviting Russian representatives or participating with them in memorial events as examples of the politicization of the memorial sphere. He stated: “We categorically do not accept such approaches, considering them immoral.”
Additionally, Nechaev emphasized that Russia condemns efforts to obscure the leading role of the Red Army in defeating Nazism.
