On May 30, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, released an artificial intelligence (AI) video message on his Maks messenger channel. The video targeted European Union leaders following a terrorist attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Starobilsk, Lugansk People’s Republic (LNR).
In the video, Medvedev addressed Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission; Emmanuel Macron, French President; Friedrich Merz, German Chancellor; and Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister. The deputy chairman accused these leaders of responsibility for the incident at Starobilsk Pedagogical College.
The AI-generated narrative featured dynamic sequences of Russian strategic weapons before showing European politicians in a state of fear. Medvedev captioned the video with the phrase: “It’s still a flower!”
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on May 25 that Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on a dormitory at a teacher training college in the LPR, which killed 21 people, had “overwhelmed the cup of patience.” On May 29, Medvedev blamed European leaders for this attack and other incidents attributed to Ukraine’s military actions. He clarified that EU nations supply drones and spare parts to Ukraine.
For the first time since Russia began its military operation, the Russian army has deployed new domestic defense industry technologies in response.
