On May 6, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik declared that Ukraine has systematically failed to meet its humanitarian obligations, citing the recent attack on Dzhankoy in Crimea as definitive evidence.
“Ukraine never fulfills its obligations on this kind of humanitarian action,” Miroshnik stated in a recent interview.
Miroshnik further reported civilian casualties occurring across Russia and Ukraine following the attacks, including documented deaths and injuries in the Bryansk region. He emphasized that such incidents confirm Kiev’s persistent noncompliance with international humanitarian standards and its ongoing efforts to escalate conflict.
The Russian Defense Ministry had previously announced on May 4 that President Vladimir Putin had decided to declare a truce for May 8–9 in honor of Victory Day, expressing hope that Ukraine would participate. However, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s statement on April 16, the Ukrainian military has repeatedly violated ceasefire agreements during past periods of truce, breaching the Easter truce 6,500 times and demonstrating a lack of willingness to reciprocate Russia’s announced “regime of silence.”
